With over 40 years of history, our horseback riding centre in Tuscany is one of the most well-known trail riding centres in Italy. Since 1971, the riding stable of Hotel Prategiano has organised trail rides throughout Tuscany. Most of our clients come to go horseback riding others some for mountain biking, cycling or walking. The hotel is also a good starting point to visit Siena, Massa Marittima, Florence, Volterra, San Gimiginao, Grosseto or to spend a day at the beach.
During your equestrian vacations in Tuscany, as a beginner rider can learn the basics of trail riding starting with the basics and with gentle horses. Riding lessons in the ring can be taught in English, Italian or German. The groups are small and often semi-private. Beginner riders can also go for short, leisurely outside rides. In order to take part in these trail rides you need to be in good physical shape and be comfortable and balanced in the saddle.
Experienced riders can participate in beautiful half-day or full-day trail rides. These rides are calm and always accompanied by a qualified guide. Tuscany is not fast riding country, but there is the possibility for some trotting and cantering every day. You will explore an unspoiled countryside and ride through medieval villages, across small rivers, through woods, and across meadows and fields. In most cases, we follow small country paths, trails through thick vegetation or cross fields without any landowners objecting and without meeting a single gate. In a week’s stay, each ride will have a different destination. At lunch time you will be served a restaurant-cooked, warm picnic in a special outdoor place. This is a great opportunity to meet your non-riding companions, mountain bikers, cyclists and walkers; and to make new friends in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
Most of our clients choose our hotel for horse riding or biking.
